Abstract
When throughput is constrained by a machine, overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) and total effective equipment performance (TEEP) analysis can be used to address that constraint. Using OEE and TEEP to prioritize improvement opportunities increases operational excellence and profits. The author explains appropriate and inappropriate uses of OEE and TEEP, as well as provides a comprehensive approach for calculating these metrics when considering the complicating factors of process type (batch, parts and continuous) and product mix complexity.
