Abstract
Quality management systems (QMS) and more specifically, the standards that regulate QMS, are often misunderstood. Without transparent statistics, it's difficult to gauge how organizations benefit from following these standards, or even how much benefit is gained. Studies show that following standards such as ISO 9000 and ISO 14000 is beneficial for organizations in the manufacturing sector, but benefits to other fields remains questionable. Financial gains for organizations adhering to these standards are even less transparent.
