Abstract

I received a positive result on a medical test and am concerned. Several friends said I should not be worried because quite a few of their friends have had false positives. But I read that this test is highly accurate with a sensitivity (true positive) rate of 90% and specificity (true negative) rate of 96%. Can you help me understand how to think about this?
