Abstract

The quality leadership team (QLT) is an enhanced version of the quality control circle (QCC), characterized by a structured team and leadership setup. This article presents a case study of a production line organization focused on QCC to enhance quality and productivity while addressing cultural conflicts at a U.S. auto manufacturer. The QCC volunteer-based culture was shifted to a leadership-driven model, inspired by American auto manufacturing practices, which was adopted by managers, employees and unions. The QLT aims to improve quality under the guidance of the organization’s leadership and through the organized efforts of its team.
