Abstract
Measurement systems are used to measure all data points provided, such as in a process, but the measurement system is not always correct. Measurement systems must be evaluated regularly to be sure any points of weakness are found and fixed. Two methods used to analyze measurement systems are the define, measure, analyze, improve and control (DMAIC) method and the design for Six Sigma method (DFSS). Variation in measurement can occur at the process level or at the measurement level, but a Gage repeatability and reproducibility study can help determine how much variation is present in the measurement system.
