Melissa Finocchio

Melissa Finocchio is an experienced regulatory and quality professional with more than 25 years of experience in vitro diagnostics and medical devices. She has a diverse personal experience from product development through manufacturing and post-market support, giving her a unique perspective on the challenges faced in implementing a compliant yet efficient quality management system. Her experience ranges from products as simple as Petri dishes and rapid tests to those as complex as AI-software for Next Generation Sequencing and companion diagnostics. As a former executive leader, Melissa is passionate about finding creative ways to be compliant while meeting business and innovation needs. Having lived and worked in the United States, the Netherlands, Switzerland, and France, while managing teams based worldwide, she has experienced first-hand the challenges of cross-cultural communication and international management on a global scale and is passionate about the role of quality in enabling efficient operations, and not only as an industry necessity.

Monica Puertas

Dr. Mónica Puertas is PhD. in Industrial Engineering from the University of South Florida - USA, MSc in Industrial Engineering from the University of Puerto Rico and Industrial Engineering from Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú (PUCP). She also has postgraduate studies in Quality Management and Environmental Management from the University of Reutlingen, Germany. She is Internal Auditor and Quality Manager from the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Qualität, Germany, and an ISO 9001 Lead Auditor, IRCA, from TÜV Rheinland, Peru. Dr. Puertas has 27 years of experience in teaching, auditing and consulting in quality and environmental management systems, including ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 21001, ISO 7101, ISO 15189 and ISO/IEC 17025. She has been evaluator for the National Quality Award in Peru, for the International Team Excellence Award of the American Society for Quality and is the technical director for the Quality Sustainability Award for Latin America - International Academy for Quality. She represents the PUCP on the Technical Standardization Committees for Quality Assurance and Quality Management, Conformity Assessment, and Quality Management in Educational Institutions. She is professor and senior advisor at the Institute for Quality – PUCP and currently serves as Deputy Director of Content and Strategic Development at the Institute for Quality – PUCP. Her research interests focus on Engineering Education, Continuing Education, Quality Engineering, Analytics and Optimization.

She is an ASQConnEx expert and has served as the past Section Chair of ASQ Manitoba.
