Frequently Asked Questions

ASQ and ASQE are strengthening their partnership through an updated governance model designed to bring greater alignment, transparency, and unity while keeping ASQE a separate legal entity and preserving its core areas of focus, including Certification, Organizational Membership, and Research. Under this new structure, ASQ will serve as the sole member of ASQE, providing limited, clearly defined oversight in specific governance areas (such as bylaw changes, acquisitions, and dissolution), while the ASQE Board of Directors remains the primary governing body responsible for leading the organization’s strategic direction and decision-making.

Is ASQE still an independent organization?

Yes. ASQE continues to operate as a separate legal entity. The governance update does not change ASQE’s core functions.

What does it mean that ASQ is now the sole member of ASQE?

ASQ now holds limited governance rights in specific areas, while the ASQE Board continues to direct strategy and organizational decision-making.

Are member benefits or services changing?

No. There are no changes being made at this time to any membership benefits, services, or programs.

What leadership changes should members know about?

Jim Templin has transitioned out of his role as ASQE CEO. His service and contributions are appreciated.

Who leads ASQE now?

The ASQE Board remains the primary governing body. The ASQ CEO serves as permanent Chair of the ASQE Board, and the ASQ head finance officer serves as Treasurer.

Why were these governance updates made?

The changes strengthen alignment, transparency, and long-term stability between ASQ and ASQE while maintaining each organization’s operational independence.
